Mesothelioma is a type of rare cancer affecting the lining of heart, abdomen and lungs. This kind of cancer accounts for about 3% of the diagnoses in the US. Men are four times the risk of developing this cancer than women. This type of cancer can be fatal except if it is benign.

Mostly people who are exposed to asbestos at their work places are at high risk. Even those who stay in proximity of asbestos are at risk of developing this cancer. When patients are detected with Mesothelioma normally their life expectancy is less than a year after that. However, this also depends on lung cancer stage, the detection stage and the treatment.

2) Peritoneal Mesothelioma: This occurs in the abdominal cavity called peritoneal membrane.
3) Pericardial Mesothelioma: The cancer growing in the lining of the heart is called Pericardial
4) Testicular Mesothelioma: Cancer that grows in the tunica vaginalis of testicles is called Testicular cancer and it is a very rare form of cancer.

Listed are the symptoms of lung cancer:
- Fever and Night sweats
- Fatigue
- Coughing up blood
- Shortness of breath
- Unexplained loss of weight of 10% or more
- Lumps beneath the skin of chest
- Raspy or dry cough that is persistent
- Problems in swallowing
- Pain in chest area
- Painful breathing

Treatment:
Treatments for Mesothelioma include radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgery. Apart from these, gene therapy, photodynamic therapy and immunotherapy are also applied.

Cure:
Unfortunately, there is no cure for Mesothelioma at present. Patients undergo various treatments to fight against this cancer. Patients also have the option of going through clinical trials that are very important for research.
